A website devoted to pictures of “Old cars still kicking, classic cars still on the roads…” has put up a number of photos of Trabants around the world.   A great site to keep your eyes on if you are interested in sightings of cars you just don’t see any more - we with good number of Eastern-Bloc favorites too.

Not just a rarer 1.1, not just a rarer Kombi, not just a rarer 1.1 Kombi…. but a custom 1.1 Kombi.  Not UK registered, but that should not be a problem, this car has been tarted up inside and out. Not to everyones taste, but something that will get people turning their heads.  It is not very often that a custom Trabant appears on UK Ebay. This one has some rust on the body, just goes to show that flashy paint job will never stop the russian steel from rusting!

Four bidders and an end bid of £89, which is possibly less that I thought (I would have had gone for between £100 and £150). However, someone in ebay land has hopefully got themselves a good little project on their hands.

For spares or repair, a quite unloved Trabant but a Kombi and if the underneath is all ok and the rust on the top is not too bad, then certainly worth the £50 starting bid for a nice project.    I bet you that a new battery, spark plugs, some petrol and oil, turn the key and it will start! I bet you too that it will need all brakes replacing and getting the hubs off…… it will be time to find a hub puller.
